SWITCH YOUR MIND TO ‘AIRPLANE MODE' NOW AND THEN.
AIRPLANE MODE WILL WORK JUST AS WELL FOR THE BRAIN AS IT DOES FOR CELL PHONES AND LAPTOPS.
It can be difficult to switch off in a world where we are constantly 'on.' This is heightened by the availability of plentiful electronic devices and Social Media Sites that can distract us both inside and outside of the workplace/homes.
Our thinking brain, on the other hand, has limited capacity and requires some rest. Once our mind is calm and relaxed, it can then be at its best for longer periods.
In reality, we cannot turn off our brains. We will be dead if we did because it keeps our bodies running. So, how do we salve our minds and achieve a state of relaxation while remaining alert?
THE ANSWER IS FLIGHT MODE!
THE ADVANTAGES OF PUTTING OUR PHONES/LAPTOPS ON AIRPLANE MODE
What I didn't realize until I was penning down this article was that there are benefits to using airplane mode even otherwise, even if we're not in the air or on a plane!!
They are as follows:
1)DISTRACTIONS CAN BE AVOIDED.— When you know you require some alone time or want to avoid some intrusions switch to airplane mode. This way you know you would get some quiet time and it would keep distractions at bay.
You'll still be able to check your files and time, but you won't be enticed to pick up the phone to check for messages because you won't be getting them!!
2)YOU CAN EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR BATTERY.—When you've forgotten your charger, set your phone to airplane mode. It enables you to read files, check the time, and take photos while drastically reducing background work. When you need to make a phone call, you can turn off airplane mode.
3)YOU CAN ACCELERATE CHARGING. —When you only have a few minutes and need to charge your phone, turning on airplane mode will expedite the process.
NOW DEAR READERS, IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT WHAT HOLDS GOOD FOR CELLPHONES AND LAPTOPS, ALSO HOLDS GOOD FOR OUR BRAINS AS WELL. WE CAN TRANSFORM OUR BRAINS INTO AIRPLANE MODE TOO.
SOME WAYS OF TRANSFORMING OUR BRAINS INTO AN AIRPLANE MODE
Taking some time during the day to turn off some of our transmission would aid in more effectively utilizing our brain batteries.
Our capacity to work will be enhanced once our brain is rested and out of Airplane Mode, and we will be able to do justice to whatever we are doing.
Here are some simple ways of PUTTING OUR BRAIN TO AIRPLANE MODE.
You can do them all while sitting at your desk, going for a walk, taking the train, or driving.
1)Breathing consciously
If you're not used to doing this, start with a few minutes and gradually increase your time. Take note of how you're breathing.
BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT
BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT
The inhale, exhale, and space in between —If you concentrate on this, you will notice that it calms your entire body and relaxes your mind.
2)Play and listen to some soothing music
I really mean play some soothing music AND THEN LISTEN TO WHAT IS BEING PLAYED. Don't leave it on in the background unless you're doing mindful breathing!
3)Stay away from distractions, obstructions, intrusions, and diversions—call them whatever you can.
If you need 10 minutes of silence, turn off your phone, close the door, and stop any interruptions/disturbances. DO JUST AND JUST NOTHING.
Stay alert while remaining relaxed!
AND WHEN YOU GET BACK HOME, DO SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH YOUR KIDS. PLAY WITH THEM, GIVE THEM ATTENTION, AND MAKE THEM FEEL SPECIAL. At least for some time leave your office, your cell phones, laptop, —to—do—chore list aside. Play with your kids or have a bath meditation/tea meditation and then after giving your brain some rest(once your brain is recharged) attempt something else.
